Himalay kee Ganga
The Himalaya are a source of not only India's great mystique traditions but also source of huge bio diversity. India's most revered river Ganga actually emerge from Himalayas. According to the mythological traditions of Hinduism, Ganga was brought on earth by Sage Bhagirath from the hair of Lord Shiva. The first drop of the river fell at Gangotri where a historic temple dedicated to Ganga attract thousands of devotees every year. Technically, river, Bhagirathi, that flows by Gangotri actually rise from the Himalayan glacier named as Gaumukh, about 18 kilometer trek from the religious town. Two biggest tributaries of Ganga in the Himalaya are river Bhagirathi and Alaknanda. Both the rivers pass through difficult tarrains and meet many other glacial rivers that make the journey of Ganga more fascinating. We have attempted to track these various tributaries of river Ganga and followed them up to various 'Prayags', holy confluences of these rivers in different parts of Uttarakhand. Ganga and all its tributaries are our national heritage and identity. It is important that we preserve and protect our rich national heritage that built our civilisation.
This is the first of my Ganga series. Will be uploading others too. The 45 minute documentary take you to beautiful hills of Uttarakhand and formation of Ganga.
